DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons set an NBA single-season record with their 27th straight loss Tuesday night, as Cam Johnson scored 24 points and Mikal Bridges added 21 to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 118-112 victory.Cade Cunningham scored 41 points but the Pistons (2-28) broke a tie with the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers hold the overall mark at 28, a skid that started in the 2014-15 season and carried over into 2015-16. “A lot of this load is trusted to me, on the court and in the locker room,” Cunningham said. “Every day, I try to lead the squad, and I haven’t been successful at that — 2-28. It’s only right that I speak for it and be the face of it.”Cunningham scored 37 in the second half and shot 15 for 21 from the field, but Bojan Bogdanovic was the only other Pistons player with more than 15. Cunningham’s teammates shot 36.2% (25 for 69), including 28.6% (6 for 21) on 3-pointers.“You have to be real about where we are,...

Houston Texans claim safety Kareem Jackson off waivers from Broncos

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:35:08 GMT

Kareem Jackson is returning to his roots after the Houston Texans claimed the hard-hitting safety off waivers from the Denver Broncos on Tuesday. The Broncos (7-8) were hoping he'd clear waivers so they could re-sign their locker room leader and tone-setter to the practice squad. That way, they didn't have to expose another player to the waiver wire and risk losing him. Plus, they'd have been able to elevate Jackson to the active roster for games.Instead, he's back with the Texans (8-7), who drafted him 20th overall out of Alabama in 2010.“H Town……. I’mmm Baaaack,” Jackson said on social media Tuesday.Jackson played cornerback for nine seasons with Houston before moving to safety when he joined the Broncos in free agency in 2019. Families were even put up at the Transportation Building. The shelter cap of 7,500 families was reached, Healey declared a state of emergency, asked for money, asked for more, and the need has not subsided. As The Hill reported, a migrant caravan is making its way through Mexico towards the U.S.. The reportedly 6,000-strong caravan is the largest organized group of migrants to form in Tapachula, Mexico since 2022.According to reports, the caravan’s leaders are carrying banners calling the movement an “exodus from poverty,” and it is mainly composed of peo...

Chicken, meet garlic

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:35:08 GMT

It’s easy to see why a recipe that starts with 40 cloves of garlic might appear suspect. Most recipes that include garlic call for somewhere between two and six cloves, so 40 would seem like an insane amount. Trust me, it’s not.Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic is actually a classic Provençal dish, first made popular on our shores by famed food writer James Beard, who insisted that you count out the cloves to ensure you were using the correct number.Once you try it, you’ll immediately understand why Beard didn’t want anyone to skimp on the star ingredient.Cooking the whole cloves slowly, alongside the chicken, takes all the bite out of them and turns them soft and sweet. They’re perfect for spreading, like butter, onto good-quality bread. This recipe starts by boiling the garlic cloves briefly in water, which accomplishes two things: It helps to easily peel the cloves and it starts the cooking process for them.Chicken thighs are sautéed skin-side down in ...
