AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety upped patrols in Austin on March 30 as part of a partnership with the Austin Police Department to address APD's staffing shortage.Below is a breakdown of the incidents DPS was involved in as part of the Austin Violent Crimes Task Force from March 30 through April 3, according to the department's communications office. 1,570 traffic stops765 citations15 crash investigations52 felony arrests31 misdemeanor arrests6 stolen vehicles recovered11 firearms seized174 grams of cocaine seized 40 grams of heroin seized127,415 grams of methamphetamine seizedAccording to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, from March 30 - April 2, DPS booked 61 people compared to APD's 222. A $20,000 reward is being offered in the search for a young mother who disappeared after driving away from her home in Los Angeles County in 2015.Monique Figueroa, 27, was last seen leaving her Littlerock home to visit the Florence area on May 19, 2015, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Her father was the last person to see her drive away from their residence on the 7200 block of East Avenue U-12 around 4 a.m.Her disappearance is being investigated as “suspicious” and as a possible kidnapping, said LASD. OAKLAND — An 18-year-old has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with the October party shooting that killed two brothers and left two others hospitalized with injuries, authorities said.Joaquin Godoy, of Oakland, was charged Tuesday with murder in the deaths of brothers Jazy Sotelo Garcia, 17, and Angel Sotelo Garcia, 15, at the Oct. 1, 2022 house party. A second suspect, arrested in March, has not yet been charged, authorities said.Godoy is suspected of being one of at least two shooters to open fire at the party. Police believe one of the victims was mistaken for a rival gang member, but that no one that was struck by gunfire actually had any gang ties.
