Q: The striping and light at Hamilton Place need to be fixed as soon as possible. I saw another near miss this week with someone in the confusing straight-to-left turn lane there. A big truck did not know the lane ended and almost took out the car on his right at the last moment. You could hear tires squealing. This signal and pavement striping are dangerous.Lindsay GeierA: This message followed your recent questions for Colin-the-city-spokesman.Q: Taking Leigh Avenue from De Rose Way to Hamilton has been an easy commute. Now the signal is constantly on at Hamilton Place, even when no one is making a left turn or leaving. It also now creates a very long wait for those going south on Leigh. I’ve seen people get so fed up that they stop, look and then proceed through the red light. Also, why, with all the densification, would the city think it was good idea to reduce Leigh Avenue to two lanes with large bike lanes, especially when the Los Gatos Creek bike trail is right there? The league’s profit and financial sustainability rules allow clubs to lose a maximum of 105 million pounds ($128 million) over a three-year period or face sanctions. The league referred Everton to an independent commission in March because of the alleged breach of profitability and sustainability rules, following complaints from a slew of rival clubs.A five-day hearing was held last month and the commission has now published its verdict, which sees Everton fall from 14 points to four with immediate effect. That’s the same number of points as last-place Burnley. Everton has a superior goal difference. The club, wh...

(NEXSTAR) — If you're one of the 265,000 people who moved to Colorado last year, you may not know where the name "Colorado" even comes from (you might also be uncertain what to call yourself — we've got you covered there, too). To fully explain it, you have to look at some of Colorado's most iconic features: its red rocks. Whether it is Red Rocks Park, Garden of the Gods, or areas within Mesa Verde National Park, you don't have to wander far in Colorado to spot dazzling red rocks. Those red rocks, as well as the area's red soil, helped create the name Colorado, which is closely tied to the Spanish translation of "colored red," "coloreado rojo," according to the state archives. There's also "colorido," which translates to "colorful." Which is right: Coloradan or Coloradoan? Congress selected the name when the state was only a territory in 1861. Without the help of some advocates from a southern city, Colorado City, the state may have had a different name. Dorothy Aldridge wrote in ...
